The Beauty of Discarded Things

The work of photographers Mike and Sue Conway

and Lacey Daniels

Mike and Sue Conway travel the back roads and byways of America in search of
discarded vehicles, abandoned buildings and forgotten places in hopes of capturing
some of their past glory and preserving their images before they disappear forever.

The Conways will exhibit some local Americana in their photographs of old and abandoned vehicles in various stages of astonishingly colorful decay.

Lacey Daniels is a graduate of Grand Valley State University in Photography. She is a working photographer in Grand Rapids and is currently enrolled in graduate studies at GVSU. The work we will exhibit is from Lacey’s final photography series as an undergrad at GVSU. These im-ages showcase her prowess as a photographer and a designer. She has taken discarded and thrown-away objects (bubble wrap, plastic grocery bags, paper coffee cups, etc.) and created on-the-spot, one-of-a-kind fashions, modeled by college students in a bare urban setting.

The work of photographers Mike & Sue Conway and Lacey Daniels will be on exhibit at the Arts Council March 17-May 16.
You are cordially invited to a reception with the artists
at the Arts Council, 532 Ottawa Avenue NW
on Wednesday, April 2, 5:30-7:30pm.

The gallery is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm or by appointment.
