Education Funding Sample Budget (40k PDF)
The Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids has two funding
pools within the Arts Education focus. One funding pool is
reserved for nonprofit member arts organizations, and the
other is reserved for urban public schools.
The focus of this funding is on: training for artists to
prepare them for the classroom or to train them in meeting
or assessing the Arts Standards; developing whole-school and/or
multi-discipline participation programs; and expanding programming
into new grades, especially grade seven and above. Priority
is placed on those organizations that serve urban public schools
with a high percentage of at-risk students and that have qualified
classroom arts specialists.
Several Grand Rapids urban public schools have been selected
for a test of a new grant program, intended to build that
schools capacity to support and sustain arts education
programs. Grants up to $1,000 are available to those schools
to support equipment/ teaching environment, teacher training,
whole-school arts projects and start-up funds for cultural
arts committees.
