Financial Support:
each year the Arts Council awards:

Support Grants: Organization members with operating budgets
under $1 million are eligible to apply for the Arts Council’s
annual operating support grants. |

Michigan
Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA): The Arts
Council is a re-granting agency for the State of Michigan
and distributes Minigrants to nonprofits in seven West
Michigan counties. |

• Eight workshops that address arts organizations’
structural needs and artists’ concerns.
• Grant-writing workshops focused on State Mingrants
and State arts grants. |

One-on-one mentoring covering issues related to running
a nonprofit. |
Advocacy

The Arts
Council is an advocate for its members on a city and state-wide
level. |

As an active
partner with the MCACA and ArtServe Michigan, the Arts
Council seeks to reach the Governor’s office and
local legislators to address current funding needs and
recent budget cuts. |

When attending
subcommittee hearings, the Chamber hosted breakfast with
legislators, or meeting with a legislator the Arts Council
represents all of the arts in the greater Grand Rapids
area. |

Through
e-mail updates, the Arts Council seeks to keep its members
informed about legislative processes with regard to the
arts. |
