Incorporate or Not To Incorporate"
April 16, 5-7pm
Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids
532 Ottawa Avenue NW

On April 16, 5-7pm at the Arts Council, attorney Michael Puerner
with Hastings Mutual Insurance will present a workshop on the
benefits and risks of incorporation as a small business.
Cost: FREE for members of the Arts
Council $15 for non-members.
Are you an independent artist
seeking to make your living through your art?
Are you wondering about
the pros and cons, benefits and risks
of setting yourself up as a small business?
Have you decided to incorporate
but dont know where to go next?
The Arts Council can help!

Many individual artists who seek to make their living full-time
through their craft are self-employed. This status carries certain
tax and liability risks whereas incorporation as a small business
may provide some protection. Mr. Puerner will lead participants
through an assessment of the circumstances and situations in
which incorporation may be beneficial. He will identify and
compare the different for-profit corporation entities and take
the participants step-by-step through the process of incorporation.

To RSVP for the series by April 14 or to inquire about membership
with the Arts Council, call (616) 459-2787.
